Eugene Knupke
He loved to travel, and he almost always had a camera with him. From the early 1960s into the early 2000s, he photographed the places he visited on 35mm slide film, much of it Kodachrome. His photos came from trips around the world, some through his travel agency and others simply because he loved seeing new places.
But the slides were never meant to just sit in boxes. Eugene would invite people over to his house, set up his projector, and put on slide shows of his travels. Some of his favorite photographs were even framed and hung around the house. For him, the photos were meant to be seen and shared, which is a big part of why this archive exists today. This collection is now being preserved and shared by his grandson, Ethan Groves, carrying on that same tradition of bringing these photographs to others.
